Day 251 – Psalm 32

“You are my hiding place…” Psalm 32:7

MORE THAN A FORGIVER OF SINS

God is much more than One who forgives us of our sins! David discovered many more aspects about the Lord. The following text highlights some of the things he learned to treasure about God.

“You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”
Psalm 32:7

Three precious lessons about the Being of God stood out to David.

1. “You are my hiding place”

a) God would be the Helper of the godly (Psalm 30:10).
b) God was a rock… a mighty fortress (Psalm 31:3).
c) He will hide the godly in His secret place (Psalm 31:20).

2. “You shall preserve me from trouble”

a) Trouble from enemies.
b) Trouble from adverse circumstances of life.
c) God’s preservation would be a very special source of comfort.

3. “You shall surround me with songs of deliverance”

a) God will bring about deliverance.
b) He will give many songs to gladden the heart.
c) Few songs could rival the joy found in “songs of deliverance”.

DEVELOPING A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

David’s contemplation of God must surely cause the godly to contemplate developing a close relationship with Him! There is everything to gain and nothing to lose! All it takes to commence a strong and blessed relationship with God is to turn to the Lord confessing our sins! God knows all about our sins anyway, and thus there is no reason to keep silent and hide our sins. May the thought of the joy of having a restored relationship with God draw us back to Him swiftly!
