Day 247 – Psalm 32

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven…” Psalm 32:1a

SUPERSCRIPTION

We have a straightforward superscription that identifies David as the author. The additional thought is that Psalm 32 was written as “A contemplation”. The psalm is therefore to be read thoughtfully or meditatively.

A BLESSING OFTEN TAKEN FOR GRANTED

God’s blessings are many. Sadly, the rich blessings of God are often taken for granted. Perhaps one of the blessings most taken for granted is the forgiveness of our sins! The following text challenges us to appreciate afresh the Lord’s blessing of forgiveness.

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.”
Psalm 32:1-2

1. Blessed

The blessings of the Lord deserves deep contemplation on our part. Let us take time to meditate on the blessing of being fully forgiven of our sins.

2. The fact of our sinfulness

a) We have transgressed God’s laws.
b) We have sinned against the Lord.
c) We have committed iniquity.

3. Without the Lord’s mercy extended to us

a) We would be found guilty.
b) We would have to be punished according to the sins committed.

4. Because of God’s mercy we have full forgiveness which includes the following:-

a) Transgression forgiven
b) Sin covered
c) No iniquity imputed
d) No deceit found
