A THIRD REASON TO EXTOL THE LORD

The psalmist David further discloses why he wanted to extol the Lord. This particular reason may be found here in this text.

“O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave;
You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.”
Psalm 30:3

This phrase represents a number of things:-

a) God’s covenant-relationship
b) God’s Lordship
c) God’s sovereignty

2. “You brought my soul up from the grave”

a) David must have had a “near-death” experience.
b) Deliverance from certain death is something not to be taken for granted.
c) Descriptions to take note of:-

ii) The pit

3. “You have kept me alive”

a) David knew that he could have died had it not been for the Lord.
b) It was the Lord who had decreed that David would survive.
i) It was God’s sovereignty that prevailed.
ii) It was God’s power that brought about deliverance.
iii) It was God’s grace that kept David alive.
