Psalm 22:22 "I will declare Your name to My brethren"

Day 173 – Psalm 22

“I will declare Your name to My brethren” Psalm 22:22

A DISTINCT CHANGE OF TONE

The first part of Psalm 22 described the impassioned prayer of the psalmist (Psalm 22:1-21). The second part of Psalm 22 offers a distinct contrast! The psalmist switched to a theme of Praise.

“I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.”
Psalm 22:22

1. “I will declare Your name”

a) This was what Jesus did throughout His earthly ministry.
b) He taught the multitudes about God and His kingdom.

2. “My brethren”

a) A reference to all who believed in Him.
b) A special tender reference to all who became His disciples.

3. “In the midst of the assembly”

a) A definite reference to His disciples who were privileged to see Him after His resurrection.
b) The post-resurrection Jesus continued to speak of God and His kingdom.

4. “I will praise You”

a) Jesus had always spoken of His Father in tender words of adoring praise.
b) He continued to praise the Father post resurrection!

FULFILMENT OF THIS WORD OF PROPHECY

The author of Hebrews noted the fulfillment of this prophecy in the following text.

“For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified
Are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them
brethren, saying:
‘I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.'”
Hebrews 2:11-12
