Psalm 20:4 "May He grant you according to your heart's desire"

Day 153 – Psalm 20

“May He grant you according to your heart’s desire” Psalm 20:4

NO PRESUMPTION

The language used in this prayer to God precludes presumption. Prayer is not prayer if it is presumptuous!

“May He grant you according to your heart’s desire,
And fulfill all your purpose.”
Psalm 20:4

1. “Your heart’s desire”

a) This precludes evil thoughts and desires.
b) The heart must be:-
i) One that is wise and enlightened.
ii) One that is full of integrity.

2. “And fulfill all your purpose”

a) All wars must have a definite purpose.
b) These purposes must have been derived from:
i) The need to defend the country from invading enemy forces.
ii) The desire to obey the Lord in “just causes” (waging of war against notoriously wicked people).

3. “May He grant”

a) Man must submit all to God.
i) All he feels in the heart.
ii) All he thinks and purposes in his mind.
b) How God would grant the petition made to Him.
i) When He has tested both heart and mind and have found them pure.
ii) When man’s plans are in alignment to God’s will.
