Day 136 – Psalm 18

“The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.” Psalm 18:28b

HOW INVOLVED IS GOD IN OUR LIFE?

If we can speak of having faith in God, then we must also look forward to having God deeply involved in our life. The following text is David’s testimony of how wonderfully God was involved in his life.

“For You will light my lamp;
The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
For by You I can run against a troop,
By my God I can leap over a wall.”
Psalm 18:28-29

1. Light and Enlightenment

a) Lamps were used in the ancient days to give light to one’s pathway.
b) Darkness was deeply dreaded.
c) God brings with Him
i) Light (physical… in the days of Moses)
ii) Light (spiritual… in David’s time)
iii) Enlightenment (spiritual light)
iv) Darkness (symbol of wickedness)

2. With help from a wonderfully personal God

a) Even in times of battle
i) There will be courage to face the foe.
ii) There will be strength to give combat to the enemy.
iii) The hope of being able to leap over a wall speaks of special help from God (even if this is to be understood figuratively as triumphing over the enemy).

EVERY REASON TO INVOLVE GOD IN OUR LIFE

What a testimony David gave in this short text! How our hearts must desire to ask God to be deeply involved in our life. May we experience the Lord’s blessings in our life as David did!
