Day 332 – Psalm 132

“Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.” Psalm 132:8

INSTALLING THE ARK OF THE LORD IN JERUSALEM

Through diligent search David found the Ark of the Lord. With great joy he installed the Ark in Jerusalem, the Holy City.

“Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah;
We found it in the fields of the woods.
Let us go into His tabernacle;
Let us worship at His footstool.
Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place,
You and the ark of Your strength.
Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness,
And let Your saints shout for joy.
For Your servant David’s sake,
Do not turn away the face of Your Anointed.”
Psalm 132:6-10

1. Finding the Ark of the Lord

It was located in the fields of the woods in Ephrathah.

2. His tabernacle

a) The rightful place for the Ark was in the Tabernacle.
b) The Tabernacle was now in Jerusalem.
c) A special term for the Ark of the Lord. It was here called “The ark of Your strength”.

3. Worship at the Tabernacle

a) The Tabernacle was humbly called “the footstool” of the Lord.
b) The Lord was humbly requested to be at this “resting place”.
c) The priests
i) David made sure that there would be priests who would look after the Tabernacle.
ii) May they be clothed in righteousness and serve the Lord faithfully.
d) The saints have every reason to worship the Lord with great shouts of joy.

4. A special plea

That God would remember David’s love and devotion to Him. This prayer was offered up on behalf of the descendants of David who would succeed him. There is a veiled Messianic reference in the phrase “Your Anointed.”
