“Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; Yes, our God is merciful.” Psalm 116:5

REFLECTION ON DELIVERANCE FROM DEATH

When one has been delivered from death, there should be deep reflection! The psalmist reflected on what he had learned about God.

“Gracious is the LORD, and righteous;
Yes, our God is merciful.
The LORD preserves the simple;
I was brought low, and He saved me.
Return to your rest, O my soul,
For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.”
Psalm 116:5-7

1. A deeper understanding and appreciation of God

a) The Lord is gracious.

b) He is righteous.

c) He is merciful.

d) He preserves the simple.

e) He is able to save… to the uttermost!

f) The Lord has dealt bountifully with:-

i) Those who cry out to Him in trust.

ii) Those who fear Him.

iii) Those who love Him.

2. “Return to your rest, O my soul”

a) The soul prior to deliverance.

i) Troubled

ii) Sorrowful

iii) Fearful and fretful

b) The soul may now return to its rest in the Lord.
