Day 145 – Psalm 106

“Remember me, O LORD, with the favour…” Psalm 106:4a

PLEADING WITH GOD

Psalm 106 reveals a more personal element by the author. The following text reveals much about the heart of the psalmist.

“Remember me, O LORD, with the favour You have
toward Your people.
Oh, visit me with Your salvation.”
Psalm 106:4

1. “Remember me, O LORD”

a) Much humility is reflected in this petition.
b) The psalmist is all too aware:-
i) Of the greatness of the LORD.
ii) Of the puny and sinful nature of man… and in particular, of himself.

2. “The favour You have toward Your people”

a) The psalmist recognized God’s favour shown towards the nation of Israel.
b) He asked that he might be a beneficiary of that same favour.

3. “Oh, visit me with Your salvation”

a) The word “salvation” here means “deliverance”.
b) God had visited His people and granted them deliverance (Exodus 2:23-25).
c) The psalmist pleaded with God to deliver him out of his troubles (unstated).

LANGUAGE EMPLOYED

The language employed by the psalmist shows the following things:-

1. He was thoroughly familiar with the history of Israel.

2. He was also very familiar with the writings of Moses.

3. Concepts drawn from Exodus 2-3

a) The word “remember” was understood and used correctly (Exodus 2:24).
b) The word “favour” was also well employed (Exodus 3:21).
