Day 135 – Psalm 105

“He gave them hail for rain…” Psalm 105:32a

A TERRIFYING HAIL STORM

Pharaoh and his court had seen several plagues already. Nevertheless the Pharaoh refused to yield to God’s demand to release the children of Israel from bondage. A terrifying plague in the form of a hail storm was then ordered.

“He gave them hail for rain,
And flaming fire in their land.
He struck their vines also, and their fig trees,
And splintered the trees of their territory.”
Psalm 105:32-33

1. The plague of hail

a) This was the seventh plague (Exodus 9:13-35).
i) Fire accompanied the hail (Psalm 105:32b).
ii) Loud thunder added fear (Exodus 9:23).
b) This plague was of frightening proportions (Exodus 9:22).
i) It would afflict man.
ii) It would also afflict beast.
iii) And every herb of the field.

2. The trees were affected too

a) Vines
b) Figs
c) These and other trees were splintered in Egyptian territory.

3. What about the land of Goshen?

a) Goshen was spared completely.
b) There was no hail in the land where the children of Israel dwelt (Exodus 9:26).

God had especially watched over His people and had spared them from this plague.
