Day 128 – Psalm 105

“He called for a famine in the land…” Psalm 105:16a

RECALLING THE FAMINE IN EGYPT

It was God who gave two dreams to the Pharaoh of Egypt, warning him that there would be a severe famine in the region.

“Moreover He called for a famine in the land;
He destroyed all the provision of bread.
He sent a man before them-
Joseph- who was sold as a slave.
They hurt his feet with fetters,
He was laid in irons.”
Psalm 105:16-18

APPRECIATING GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY

Only with hindsight could these things have been written. Only when things are understood and interpreted from the standpoint of faith in God’s sovereignty would the heart be able to appreciate how glorious God truly is.

The heart has every reason to rejoice in the Lord. There should be much glorying in God. The marvelous works of God should be spoken of more often. The psalmist in reflecting on God’s hand of mercy called on all believers to praise Him.
