“Remember His marvelous works…” Psalm 105:5a
REMEMBERING THE WORKS OF GOD
We should make every effort to train ourselves to remember the works of God. We have no good reason why we should not remember His wondrous works.
“Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
O seed of Abraham His servant,
You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!”
Psalm 105:5-6
1. The things we ought to work at remembering must include the following:-
a) God’s marvelous works.
b) His wonders.
c) The judgments of His mouth.
d) These judgments were carefully written down as Scriptures:-
i) The Law
ii) The prophets
iii) The writings (Psalms and the books of wisdom)
2. A specific call:-
a) The seed of Abraham, God’s servants
i) His physical descendants.
ii) His spiritual descendants.
b) Children of Jacob
i) This was a gentle attempt at reminding them of their sinful inclinations.
ii) But if they were to seek God as Jacob did, they would find Him.
c) His chosen ones
God in His grace chose the children of Jacob but not because of their righteousness (Deuteronomy 9:4-5). Nevertheless He chose them to be a holy people for Himself and a special treasure to His heart (Deuteronomy 7:6).
