"The LORD is King forever and ever..."

Day 80 – Psalm 10

“The LORD is King forever and ever…” Psalm 10:16

AN IMPRECATORY THOUGHT

The struggles of the psalmist are very deep! We must understand why he felt the way he did when he wrote these words!

“Break the arms of the wicked and the evil man;
Seek out his wickedness until You find none.”
Psalm 10:15

1. “Break the arms of the wicked and the evil man”

a) This phrase must not be interpreted in a “wooden-literal” manner.
b) The “arms” would be a reference to “power”.
c) This is a plea for the power of the wicked to be broken.

2. “Seek out his wickedness until You find none”

a) The psalmist knew just how the wicked will hide their nefarious activities.
b) The wicked would stoop to the lowest levels to evade justice.
c) The plea is for justice to be served so that the wicked and evil person would be put down for good!

THE LORD IS KING

The psalmist continue to assert his faith in the Lord! This faith comes out more brilliantly in the following text!

“The LORD is King forever and ever;
The nations have perished out of His hand.”

Psalm 10:16

1.” The LORD is King forever and ever”

a) Beneath this title is the belief that God is the Divine Just Judge (Psalm 9:7-8).
b) Part of the concept of being King includes the upholding of justice.
c) His reign as King must never be doubted.
d) It is wise to strongly reaffirm this belief that God will reign forever and ever!

2. “The nations have perished out of His hand”

he Lord will see that justice is done for the helpless! No matter how powerful rogue nations may appear to be, they will perish out of His hand (God’s judgment is in mind)!
