Introduction to "My Song in the Night"

Text: Psalm 77:6

Dear Brethren,

THE EVENING YEARS

Many look forward to their retirement so that their life can be less stressful. Working life for many years is indeed challenging. But the evening years of retirement can prove as stressful!

Life as a Senior can be fraught with difficulties. We can be so troubled that we have sleepless nights. We struggle with frail health, family tensions, dark fears and more!

A SPECIAL SERIES OF DEVOTIONS

This special series of Devotions is especially written for all who may be struggling with feelings of despair. We will be seeking to read from the Scriptures that we may find comfort and encouragement. The Book of Psalms is a wonderful portion of Scriptures to read.

We will find that the Psalmists were just as human as we are!  They too struggled with many moments of dark despair. How did they cope in the dark moments of their life?

“You hold my eyelids open;
I am so troubled I cannot speak.
I have considered the days of old,
The years of ancient times.
I call to remembrance my song in the night;
I meditate within my heart,
And my spirit makes diligent search.”

Psalm 77:4-6

We can identify with the Psalmist easily when he made references to being troubled. But can we also identify with him when he wrote, “I call to remembrance my song in the night?”

“MY SONG IN THE NIGHT”

This series of Devotions is entitled “My Song in the Night.”

It is written with a prayer that you will be able to find an uplifting song to sing in the twilight of life.

God is indeed “Our Maker who gives songs in the night” (Job 35:10).

OUR MAKER WHO GIVES SONGS IN THE NIGHT

How wonderful to know that God is our Maker;
We need not fear the night for He is our Creator.
He will give us songs in the night season of life;
We can rise above all that threatens to bring strife.

There may be terrifying feelings of dark despair;
But we will find God in the place of prayer.
In the Scriptures we will find much needed hope;
God wants us to know He is there to help us cope.

Let us make the evening years of life count for God;
There are things we can still do for the Lord.
The evening years need not be frustrating;
They can be fruitful, fresh and flourishing.

我想起我夜间的歌曲,扪心自问;

知道上帝是造我们的神真美好;
祂会使我们在晚年歌唱;

我们可能会感到绝望;
在经文里,我们将找到所需的盼望;

让我们在晚年为上帝而活;
