The Will of God
Text: John 6:38-40
THE WILL OF GOD
Jesus explained to the multitudes what the will of God really was. This was a profound teaching.
“For I have come down from heaven, not to do My
own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
This is the will of the Father who sent Me,
that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing,
but should raise it up at the last day.
And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone
who sees the Son and believes in Him may have
everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”John 6:38-40
1. There are two wills that are distinct
a) God’s will
b) Man’s will
2. A commitment to do God’s will
a) Jesus understood God’s will.
b) He determined that He would always do God’s will.
c) He determined that He would never choose His own will.
d) He had been sent to do the will of God.
3. God’s will with reference to the true believers
a) They will come to Jesus in faith.
b) They are drawn to Him and given to Him.
c) They will see Jesus and understand that He is the Son of God.
d) They will believe in Him.
4. A glorious promise to all who truly come to Jesus in faith
a) They will have everlasting life.
b) Their earthly life will come to an end one day.
c) But they will have a place in heaven.
d) One day the Lord will raise him up and resurrect him.
e) The believer would be given a new resurrection body.
f) The true child of God will be with the Lord in heaven forever.
