Glorifying Of The Lord Jesus
Text: John 16: 14 - 15
GLORIFYING OF THE LORD JESUS
Just as the Lord Jesus was committed to glorying the Father, so the Spirit of God was committed to glorifying the Son.
“He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”
John 16:14-15
1. “He will glorify Me”
a. This is according to God’s will.
b. It is the Father who has decreed that Jesus be given the glory and honour. John 5:22-23
2. “For He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you”
a. The Spirit of God will work in perfect harmony with the Divine Will.
b. The Son draws from the Father. John 5:19
c. The Spirit draws from the Son. John 16:14
3. “All things that the Father has are Mine”
a. All things have been given to Jesus.
b. He is the heir of all things. Hebrews 1:2
c. He has given to the Son:
i. His love John 5:20
ii. His works John 5:20
iii. Authority to give life John 5:21, 26
iv. All judgment John 5:22
v. All honour John 5:23
4. “Therefore, I said that He will take of Mine”
a. The Spirit of God will take from Jesus all that is His.
b. There is perfect harmony.
5. “And declare it to you”
a. The ministry of the Spirit will declare (teach) every word from Jesus.
b. He will never do anything that is of His own authority or that would be in contradiction.
