My Song In The Night (Gospel of Luke)
我夜间的歌曲《路加福音》
Text: Luke 9: 25-27
THE QUESTION OF “PROFIT”
1. The word “profit” is widely used in the world.
2. In business, there is always a “Profit/Loss” item.
APPLYING THIS IDEA TO SPIRITUAL MATTERS
“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole
world, and is himself destroyed or lost?”
Luke 9:25
1. What many desire to have
a. To gain the whole world.
b. To become billionaires.
c. To many, this would be real “profit”.
2. But at what expense?
a. What if he is destroyed along the way?
i. He loses his health.
ii. He loses his life.
b. What if his soul is lost?
i. The soul is often neglected.
ii. What would he have gained if his soul is lost?
ASHAMED OF THE LORD JESUS
“For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words,
of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when
He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s,
and of the holy angels.”
Luke 9:26
1. Some were afraid and ashamed of being identified with the Lord Jesus.
2. Therefore, they would rather not speak of having found faith in Him.
3. There would be tragic loss when the Lord Jesus returns with glory and His angels.
a. He would also be ashamed of them.
b. Since they have subtly rejected the Lord, they cannot enter His kingdom.
THE KINGDOM OF GOD
“But I tell you truly, there are some standing here
who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.”
Luke 9:27
