Text: Luke 8: 1-3
THE BAND OF FAITHFUL DISCIPLES
1. The Ministry of the Lord Jesus described:
a. Visiting of every city Luke 8:1a
b. And every village Luke 8:1b
c. Meaning:
i. Cities
They were essentially towns.
ii. Villages
They were smaller in size. No village was too small to visit.
iii. The Lord Jesus showed much care and concern for all.
2. The Focus
a. Preaching the Kingdom of God.
i. This was an Evangelistic Outreach.
ii. The Lord invited people to enter into the eternal Kingdom of God.
b. Teaching
i. This would comprise explanation about the Kingdom of God.
ii. He would answer any question that may be raised.
2. His team
a. There was the band of Apostles. They were simply called “The Twelve”.
b. There was a Group of women with Him too.
c. They played a supporting role.
3. A list of names
a. Women who had been healed from being possessed by demons.
i. Mary Magdalene, who was once possessed by seven demons
ii. Joanna, the wife of Chuza, a steward of King Herod
iii. Susanna
b. And many others.
c. How they helped?
They provided for the Lord from their personal possessions (Luke 8:3).
