Text: Luke 7: 18-23
JOHN THE BAPTISER
1. John the Baptiser was an effective preacher.
2. There were many who flocked to him.
a. To hear him preach.
b. To be baptised by him (Luke 3:1-18).
3. But John ended up in prison because he spoke against the king (Luke 3:19-20).
a. Herod the Tetrarch had taken Herodias who was his brother’s wife.
b. John rebuked him for this and other evil things he had done.
THE DISCIPLES OF JOHN THE BAPTISER
1. They were devoted to John the Baptiser.
2. They informed John who was their leader-teacher:
a. About the teaching ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ.
b. About His healing ministry.
A WORD FROM JOHN TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
1. John was in prison.
2. He could not understand why he was in prison.
a. He was young.
b. He could be a help to the Lord Jesus.
c. But he was languishing in prison instead.
3. He sent two of his Disciples with this question.
“Are You the Coming One or do we look for another?” Luke 7:19
a. John had preached so boldly once.
b. He even identified the Lord Jesus as the Lamb of God (John 1:29).
c. John was now struggling with doubts.
THE ANSWER OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
1. The Disciples of John came to the Lord Jesus.
2. They presented the question of John to Him.
“Are You the Coming One or do we look for another?” Luke 7:20
3. The reply by the Lord Jesus was astonishing.
a. “And that very hour”
In the presence of the Disciples of John.
b. The Lord Jesus cured many:
i. Those who had infirmities.
ii. Those who had afflictions.
iii. Those who had evil spirits.
iv. He gave sight to the blind (Luke 7:21).
4. He sent a word back to John.
a. The Disciples were to report what they had heard and seen (Luke 7:22a).
b. The words of the Lord Jesus were to be spoken to John.
i. “The blind see”
ii. “The lame walk”
iii. “The lepers are cleansed”
iv. “The deaf hear”
v. “The dead are raised”
vi. “The poor have the gospel preached to them” (Luke 7:23)
c. A word of encouragement:
“And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me” Luke 7:23
i. John need not be “stumbled”.
ii. He may be blessed as he comes to a full understanding.
iii. The Lord Jesus was “The Coming One,” the Messiah John had proclaimed!

约翰对主耶稣基督要说的话
1． 约翰在牢里
2．他不明白他为何会在牢里
a．他还年轻
b．他可以对主耶稣有所帮助
c．然而，他却在牢里受尽煎熬
3．他派遣了两位门徒去问耶稣一个问题
“那将要来的是你吗？还是我们等候别人呢？”《路加福音 7：19》
a．约翰曾经那么有胆量地传道
b．他甚至认定主耶稣是上帝的羔羊《约翰福音 1：29》
c．约翰现在却心存怀疑而掙扎
主耶稣基督的回答
1．约翰的门徒来到主耶稣那里
2．他们向祂提出了约翰的问题
“那将要来的是你吗？还是我们等候别人呢？”《路加福音 7：20》
3．主耶稣的回答是令人惊讶的
a．“正当那时候”
在约翰的门徒面前
b．主耶稣治好了许多人：
i．那些有疾病的
ii．那些受灾患的
iii．那些被恶鬼附着的
iv．祂叫好些瞎子能看见《路加福音 7：21》
4．祂叫他们把话带回去给约翰
a．门徒们要把所看到和听见的告诉约翰《路加福音 7：22a》
b．他们要把主耶稣的话告诉约翰
i．“瞎子看见”
ii．“瘸子行走”
iii．“长大麻风的洁净”
iv．“聋子听见”
v．“死人复活”
vi “穷人有福音传给他们”《路加福音 7：23》
c．一句鼓励的话:
“凡不因我跌倒的，就有福了！”《路加福音 7：23》
i．约翰不必“被绊倒”
ii．当他完全理解耶稣是谁时，他会受到祝福
iii．主耶稣就是他之前宣告的“那将要来的”弥赛亚！
