Text: Luke 22: 7-13

PREPARATION FOR THE PASSOVER II

1. The Context must be borne in mind.

a. There were enemies of the Lord Jesus.

b. They would like to arrest and kill Him.

c. Others may also be put in danger if the enemies become violent.

2. Secret Plan of the Lord Jesus.

a. This glad not been disclosed to the Disciples.

b. Loose or careless speech could prove fatal.

THE QUESTION OF CELEBRATING THE PASSOVER

“And He sent Peter and John, saying, ‘Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.’ So they said to Him, ‘Where do You want us to prepare?’”

Luke 22:8-9

1. The Lord Jesus wanted to observe the Passover even if there was danger afoot.

2. He instructed His Disciples to prepare the Passover Meal.

3. The Disciples did not know where the Passover Meal would be observed.
Thus they asked, “Where do You want us to prepare?”

THE EXPLANATION OF THE LORD JESUS

“And He said to them, ‘Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters. Then you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, ‘Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’ Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.’’ So they went and found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.”

Luke 22:10-13

1. A secret sign.

a. A man carrying a pitcher of water (Luke 22:10).

i. Women carried pitchers of water.

ii. Men usually carried skins of water.

b. This would be an unusual sight.

c. This was a secret sign that had been planned.

d. Peter and John were the ones entrusted with this task.

2. Following the man to the designated house.

a. The man-servant would lead to his master’s house.

b. The Disciples would follow but ask no questions.

3. To the master of the house:

a. A secret code was used.

b. The words to say to the master of the house.

“The Teacher says to you, ‘Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’”

Luke 22:11

4. The Passover Meal in the Upper Room.

a. This unknown person must have been a true follower of the Lord Jesus.

b. He was faithful and willing to open his home to the Lord and His disciples.

5. Peter and John

a. Everything the Lord had disclosed to them was correct.

b. They prepared the Passover Meal for the Lord and His disciples.

“耶稣说：“你们进了城，必有人拿着一瓶水迎面而来，你们就跟着他，到他所进的房子里去，对那家的主人说：‘夫子说：客房在哪里？我与门徒好在那里吃逾越节的筵席。’ 他必指给你们摆设整齐的一间大楼，你们就在那里预备。” 他们去了，所遇见的正如耶稣所说的，他们就预备了逾越节的筵席。”

《路加福音 22：10-13》

1. 一个秘密暗号

a. 有人拿着一瓶水 《路加福音 22：10》

i. 妇女携带着一瓶水

ii. 男人通常携带水囊
