MEDITATION
Genesis 49:13-15
13 “Zebulun shall dwell by the haven of the sea;
He shall become a haven for ships,
And his border shall adjoin Sidon.
14 “Issachar is a strong donkey,
Lying down between two burdens;
15 He saw that rest was good,
And that the land was pleasant;
He bowed his shoulder to bear a burden,
And became a band of slaves.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Zebulun
a. He was the sixth and last son of Leah.
b. The listing of the sons is not in chronological order.
2. In the future
a. Zebulun would become a sea-faring tribe.
b. His ports would become a haven for ships.
c. His borders would be next to Sidon (and Tyre).
d. Sidon and Tyre would become famous for their skills in the shipping industry.
3. Issachar
a. He was the fifth son of Leah.
b. He was the older brother of Zebulun.
c. The description of Issachar was not great.
i. He was compared to a strong donkey. (Judah was compared to a young lion.)
ii. He was contented with bearing burdens.
iii. He could bear heavy burdens.
iv. His descendants would become a band of slaves.
