Text: Genesis 4: 16-22
MEDITATION
Genesis 4:16-22
16 Then Cain went out from the presence of the LORD and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.
17 And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son—Enoch.
18 To Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael, and Mehujael begot Methushael, and Methushael begot Lamech.
19 Then Lamech took for himself two wives: the name of one was Adah, and the name of the second was Zillah.
20 And Adah bore Jabal. He was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.
21 His brother’s name was Jubal. He was the father of all those who play the harp and flute.
22 And as for Zillah, she also bore Tubal-Cain, an instructor of every craftsman in bronze and iron. And the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. “Cain went out from the presence of the LORD”
a. Cain was unrepentant, and he did not seek to return to God.
d. Instead, he chose to go away from the presence of the LORD.
2. Enoch
a. The name has a variety of possible nuances:
i. It could mean “experience”.
ii. It could also mean “profundity”.
b. It reflected Cain’s view of himself.
i. He was an experienced man.
ii. He built a city and named it after his son.
3. Generations
a. The Lord’s grace and mercy continued to be bestowed on mankind.
b. Many more were born, and some had wonderful artistic talents and skills in music and industry.

17 该隐与妻子同房，他妻子就怀孕，生了以诺。该隐建造了一座城，就按着他儿子的名，将那城叫做以诺。

19 拉麦娶了两个妻，一个名叫亚大，一个名叫洗拉。
20 亚大生雅八。雅八就是住帐篷、牧养牲畜之人的祖师。
21 雅八的兄弟名叫犹八，他是一切弹琴吹箫之人的祖师。22 洗拉又生了土八该隐，他是打造各样铜铁利器的。土八该隐的妹子是拿玛。
