Text: Genesis 39: 4-6
MEDITATION
Genesis 39:4-6
4 So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority.
5 So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was on all that he had in the house and in the field.
6 Thus he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate.
Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Joseph’s promotion
a. He found favour in Potiphar’s household.
b. He served his master faithfully.
c. He was promoted to become the overseer of Potiphar’s household.
d. He had authority over all of Potiphar’s businesses.
2. The LORD’s involvement
a. The LORD blessed Potiphar’s household.
i. The household of Potiphar.
ii. In the field as well.
b. The blessing came through Joseph.
i. It was the Lord’s blessings that counted.
ii. It was the LORD who enabled Joseph to be so successful.
c. Potiphar
i. He did not bother himself with his estate anymore.
ii. He knew that under Joseph’s supervision, he would continue to do well.
3. The challenges that Joseph had to overcome
a. The Egyptian language
b. Business skills
c. Running a household
d. Joseph was a good-looking young man. But it was not his good looks that enabled him to become successful. There were definite skills that had to be learned, mastered and applied successfully. Joseph was but a slave that had been recently bought by Potiphar. The LORD had made all the difference in life and work.

5 自从主人派约瑟管理家务和他一切所有的，耶和华就因约瑟的缘故赐福于那埃及人的家；凡家里和田间一切所有的，都蒙耶和华赐福。6 波提乏将一切所有的都交在约瑟的手中，除了自己所吃的饭，别的事一概不知。约瑟原来秀雅俊美。
