MEDITATION
Genesis 39:1-3
1 Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him down there.
2 The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Joseph in Egypt
a. He had been sold by his brothers.
b. It was the end of the story, as far as the brothers were concerned.
c. But it was only the beginning of Joseph’s story in Egypt.
2. Potiphar
a. He was an Egyptian.
b. He served as the captain of the guard.
c. He had bought Joseph from the Ishmaelites.
3. The LORD was with Joseph
a. The Presence of the LORD would make all the difference.
b. Joseph served Potiphar as his house-hold slave.
4. Potiphar’s estate
a. He served the Pharaoh as a captain of his guards.
b. He invested his funds well.
c. Joseph managed his estate.
d. He became highly successful in all he did.
e. Potiphar recognized that there was a “higher power” involved.
f. He recognized that Joseph’s LORD was with him and giving the blessings.
