Text: Genesis 34: 25-29
MEDITATION
Genesis 34:25-29
25 Now it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword and came boldly upon the city and killed all the males.
26 And they killed Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah from Shechem’s house, and went out.
27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because their sister had been defiled.
28 They took their sheep, their oxen, and their donkeys, what was in the city and what was in the field,
29 and all their wealth. All their little ones and their wives they took captive; and they plundered even all that was in the houses.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The third day after the circumcision
a. The men would not have recovered fully yet.
b. The city would be defenseless if there was an attack.
2. Simeon and Levi
a. These were the full-brothers of Dinah.
b. The others were half-brothers.
3. Launching a deadly attack
a. Hamor and Shechem were killed.
b. Dinah who was at their home all this while was rescued.
4. Rampage against Shechem
a. They slew as many as they could.
b. They plundered the city.
c. They took as spoils of war:
i. Sheep, oxen and donkeys.
ii. They took the wealth of the people.
iii. They even captured women and children.
5. Their excuse was that Dinah had been defiled by Shechem!

《创世记 34：25-29》
25 到第三天，众人正在疼痛的时候，雅各的两个儿子，就是底拿的哥哥西缅和利未，各拿刀剑，趁着众人想不到的时候来到城中，把一切男丁都杀了，
26 又用刀杀了哈抹和他儿子示剑，把底拿从示剑家里带出来就走了。
27 雅各的儿子们因为他们的妹子受了玷污，就来到被杀的人那里，掳掠那城，
28 夺了他们的羊群、牛群和驴，并城里田间所有的，29 又把他们一切货财、孩子、妇女，并各房中所有的，都掳掠去了。
