MEDITATION
Genesis 26:26-27
26 Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath, one of his friends, and Phichol the commander of his army.
27 And Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me and have sent me away from you?”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Faith in God tested
a. Abimelech appeared on the scene again.
b. The visits from Abimelech:
i. On the first occasion he rebuked Isaac for lying to him.
ii. On the second occasion, he forced Isaac to leave his territory.
iii. On the third occasion, he did not come alone.
2. Abimelech and company
a. He brought a friend called Ahuzzath (possibly a Philistine too).
b. He also brought Phichol, the military commander of the Philistines.
3. The courage of Isaac
a. Isaac had been silent much of the time.
i. When he was rebuked.
ii. When he was forced to leave the land of the Philistines.
b. A renewed faith and courage:
i. Isaac was no longer intimidated.
ii. He spoke to Abimelech bravely.
c. He asked for the reason of this visit from Abimelech.
i. Abimelech had shown hatred (expressed in hostility).
ii. He had been dismissed. What was the reason for this visit?
