Text: Genesis 26: 1-6
MEDITATION
Genesis 26:1-6
1 There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar.
2 Then the LORD appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. 3 Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. 4 And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; 5 because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”
6 So Isaac dwelt in Gerar.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Famine in the land
a. This was something Abraham experienced (Genesis 12).
b. Isaac experienced this personally too.
2. Isaac went to stay in the country of the Philistines to escape the famine.
3. A special appearance from the LORD to Isaac
a. He was to dwell in the land.
b. He was not to go to Egypt.
4. God’s promise to Isaac
a. God would be with him. The LORD would bless him and his descendants.
b. God repeated the promise He made to Abraham.
c. Abraham was held as an example of obedience.
5. Isaac heeded the voice of the LORD and did not go down to Egypt.

1 在亚伯拉罕的日子那地有一次饥荒，这时又有饥荒，以撒就往基拉耳去，到非利士人的王亚比米勒那里。
2 耶和华向以撒显现，说：“你不要下埃及去，要住在我所指示你的地。 3 你寄居在这地，我必与你同在，赐福给你，因为我要将这些地都赐给你和你的后裔，我必坚定我向你父亚伯拉罕所起的誓。
4 我要加增你的后裔，像天上的星那样多，又要将这些地都赐给你的后裔，并且地上万国必因你的后裔得福。
5 都因亚伯拉罕听从我的话，遵守我的吩咐和我的命令、律例、法度。”6 以撒就住在基拉耳。
