Text: Genesis 24: 42-44
MEDITATION
Genesis 24:42-44
42 “And this day I came to the well and said, ‘O LORD God of my master Abraham, if You will now prosper the way in which I go,
43 behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass that when the virgin comes out to draw water, and I say to her, “Please give me a little water from your pitcher to drink,”
44 and she says to me, “Drink, and I will draw for your camels also,”—let her be the woman whom the LORD has appointed for my master’s son.’
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. At the end of the journey
a. The chief steward and his entourage were at a public well.
b. The chief steward offered a heart-felt prayer to the LORD.
2. Addressing God
a. He prayed in a formal manner.
b. This was becoming of a person who saw himself as a servant of Abraham.
c. He called God, “LORD God of my master Abraham”.
i. There was deep humility.
ii. There was also faith expressed in this prayer.
3. Specifics in prayer
a. That a virgin would meet him.
b. That she would express kindness and graciousness to a stranger.
c. That she would also show genuine concern for the camels that came with him.
4. The faith of the chief steward
a. He believed in the LORD God of Abraham because He has blessed so much.
b. He believed that God would also provide a suitable wife for Isaac.
c. He believed that His angel would be there to lead and to prosper his task.
This is a very commendable faith to emulate!

42 我今日到了井旁,便说:‘耶和华我主人亚伯拉罕的神啊,愿你叫我所行的道路通达。
43 我如今站在井旁,对哪一个出来打水的女子说:“请你把你瓶里的水给我一点喝”,44 她若说:“你只管喝,我也为你的骆驼打水”,愿那女子就做耶和华给我主人儿子所预定的妻。’
