Text: Genesis 18: 32-33
MEDITATION
Genesis 18:32-33
32 Then he said, “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?” And He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.”
33 So the LORD went His way as soon as He had finished speaking with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Acute consciousness
a. Abraham was very conscious that he was but “dust and ashes”.
b. He was not presumptuous of the following:
i. His faith in God.
ii. His relationship with the LORD.
iii. The grace, mercy, and lovingkindness of the LORD.
2. “Let not the LORD be angry”
a. God had already been so gracious.
b. Abraham would make the final plea.
3. Would God spare Sodom for the sake of 10 righteous people?
a. Abraham perhaps thought that 10 righteous people would not be hard to find.
b. Lot was one of the righteous.
c. Surely 9 other righteous people could be found!
4. The assent of the LORD
He would spare Sodom if 10 righteous people were to be found in Sodom.
CONCLUSION OF THIS VISIT FROM THE LORD
1. The LORD went His way.
2. Abraham returned to his home. He must have felt glad to intercede for Sodom.
