Text: Genesis 17: 6-8
MEDITATION
Genesis 17:6-8
6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.
7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.
8 Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Elaboration of God’s covenant promises
a. Fruitfulness
God will bring about fruitfulness!
i. Nations would come forth.
ii. Kings would be among the descendants.
b. The Covenant of God with Abraham
i. It will be established with Abraham.
ii. It will also be established with his descendants.
iii. It will be an everlasting covenant.
iv. The LORD would be God to all the descendants.
c. God will give all the land of Canaan to Abraham and his descendants.
d. It will be their everlasting possession.
e. The LORD would be their God!
2. Special reasons for this elaboration
Three may be highlighted:
a. To confirm.
b. To comfort.
c. To challenge Abraham and his descendants to be faithful and grateful.

6 我必使你的后裔极其繁多，国度从你而立，君王从你而出。
7 我要与你并你世世代代的后裔坚立我的约，做永远的约，是要做你和你后裔的神。8 我要将你现在寄居的地，就是迦南全地，赐给你和你的后裔永远为业，我也必做他们的神。”
