Text: Genesis 13: 1-4
MEDITATION
Genesis 13:1-4
1 Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, to the South.
2 Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.
3 And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
4 to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Abram called on the name of the LORD.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Egypt
a. The Pharaoh was within his rights to send Abram away.
b. Abram, Sarai, Lot and all that they possessed were forced to return to Canaan.
2. The South
a. This was known as the Negev (Genesis 12:9).
b. This area was a semi-desert.
c. Many nomadic tribes stayed there from time to time.
3. Abram’s wealth
a. He had become very wealthy.
b. Part of that wealth was acquired in Egypt.
4. The altar that was set up earlier
a. Abram had set up an altar to worship the Lord before he went to Egypt (Genesis 12:8).
b. He returned to this area where he had offered worship to God.
c. Once again, he called upon the LORD in humility for His protection and provision.
d. He was slowly but surely learning about “the name of the LORD”.

2 亚伯兰的金银、牲畜极多。
3 他从南地渐渐往伯特利去,到了伯特利和艾的中间,就是从前支搭帐篷的地方,4 也是他起先筑坛的地方,他又在那里求告耶和华的名。
