Text: Genesis 12: 7-9
MEDITATION
Genesis 12:7-9
7 Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
8 And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD.
9 So Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. A growing faith-relationship
a. God spoke to Abram, instructing him to leave Haran and to go to Canaan.
b. Abram obeyed God, exercising faith in the Lord and His word of promise.
2. God speaks to Abram further
a. After Abram was in the land of Canaan.
b. God confirmed His promise of blessing.
c. The land promised would be given to Abram’s descendants.
3. The meaningful response of Abram
a. He built an altar to worship the LORD.
b. This was his way of expressing his faith and his regard for God.
c. He would never be an idolater again.
d. He would worship only the LORD who had spoken to him.
e. This was the beginning of a new life of faith in the LORD.
4. Journeying in Canaan
a. He travelled in Canaan to be familiar with the country God had promised to give him and his descendants.
b. Another altar was raised up and once again he called on the name of the LORD.

8 从那里他又迁到伯特利东边的山,支搭帐篷。西边是伯特利,东边是艾。他在那里又为耶和华筑了一座坛,求告耶和华的名。9 后来亚伯兰又渐渐迁往南地去。
