Text: Exodus 34: 29-30
MEDITATION
Exodus 34:29-30
29 Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.
30 So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Descending from Mount Sinai
a. Moses had been with the Lord God for 40 days and 40 nights.
b. God had taught him many deep lessons about His laws.
2. Two Tablets of the Testimony
a. There were different terms employed.
b. They were interchangeable terms:
i. Laws
ii. Commandments
iii. Testimony (in this text)
c. The Laws of God were carried by Moses as he descended the mountain.
3. The Shining face of Moses
a. Moses’ face shone.
b. This was, of course, symbolic.
i. It spoke of God’s special blessing.
ii. It reflected enlightenment.
iii. It signified deep wisdom.
4. The fear of the people
a. A sudden sense of fear was felt.
b. This was something rare and had never been seen before.
c. They now had a new respect for Moses.
