Text: Exodus 19: 18-20
MEDITATION
Exodus 19:18-20
18 Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.
19 And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice.
20 Then the LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. A description of Mount Sinai
a. It was covered with smoke.
b. God had descended on the mountain in fire.
c. The smoke from the fire ascended like the smoke of a furnace.
d. Mount Sinai trembled at the presence of God.
2. The blast of the trumpet
a. Trumpets were used:
i. To alert people.
ii. To sound the alarm if enemies were approaching.
iii. To call people for a special time of worship.
b. The trumpets
i. They were used to call the children of Israel to attend to God.
ii. The long sound of the trumpets caused the people to be more attentive.
2. Moses and the LORD
a. Moses called on the LORD.
i. To announce that the children of Israel had been sanctified.
ii. That they were now at the foot of the mountain waiting upon God.
b. The LORD responded.
i. God spoke to him audibly.
ii. He must have acknowledged the presence of the children of Israel.
c. A special invitation from the LORD.
i. God invited Moses to ascend the mountain.
ii. This invitation was extended to Moses alone.
d. Moses began to make his way up the mountain.
This was an awesome experience for all the children of Israel!

18 西奈全山冒烟,因为耶和华在火中降于山上。山的烟气上腾,如烧窑一般,遍山大大地震动。
19 角声渐渐地高而又高,摩西就说话,神有声音答应他。20 耶和华降临在西奈山顶上,耶和华召摩西上山顶,摩西就上去。
