"He shall deliver us from the Assyrian"

Text: Micah 5:6

BELIEVING THE LORD

Micah held fast to his faith in the Lord and His word. He believed that Isaiah was right when he said that the Lord would defeat the Assyrians.

“They shall waste with the sword the land of Assyria,
And the land of Nimrod at its entrances;
Thus He shall deliver us from the Assyrian,
When he comes into our land
And when he treads within our borders.”
Micah 5:6

THE CHALLENGE WAS TO FULLY TRUST THE LORD

Not all in the land of Judah had such a firm faith in the Lord! There was rampant fear that prevailed in the kingdom of Judah.

1. There was dark dismay.

2. The Assyrians had successfully conquered Israel.

3. Sennacherib had conquered other nations neighbouring Judah.

4. Unbelief prevailed.

THE TASK OF THE PROPHETS

Isaiah, Hosea and Micah were faithful and outstanding servants of the Lord.

1. They chose to pray.

2. They chose to put their trust in the LORD their God!
