Day 39

"It shall come to pass in the latter days"

Text: Micah 4:1

HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

The past history of Israel was checkered. The present looked grim. A glimmer of hope lay in the future!

“Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the LORD’S house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And peoples shall flow to it.”
Micah 4:1

1. The text found here in Micah 4:1

a) This was the vision that Isaiah was given by the LORD (Isaiah 2:1-4).
b) The original vision was given by the LORD to the prophet Isaiah.
c) Micah did not claim that he saw this vision.
d) He merely proclaimed that this vision would come to pass.

2. “Now it shall come to pass in the latter days”

a) It is likely that Micah was aware of the ministry of Isaiah the prophet.
b) It is certain that Micah believed in the vision Isaiah was given by the LORD.
c) Micah now proclaimed what he believed.
i) It shall come to pass in the latter days.
ii) This was a vision and a word that needed to be proclaimed.
There was yet hope for the future!

3. “That the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established on the top of the mountains”

a) The LORD’S house will be established.
b) It will be on top of mountains.
c) It will be known as “the mountain of the LORD’S house”.

4. “And shall be exalted above the hills”

a) A significant feature was that it would be an exalted house.
b) It would be exalted symbolically “above the hills”.
c) As magnificent as the hills may be, the house of the LORD would be even more so.
d) A key feature in Isaiah’s teaching about God was His “exaltation” (Isaiah 2:10, 17, 19, 21).

5. “And peoples shall flow to it”

a) Not many were flowing into the current temple in Jerusalem.
b) But there will be peoples from all over the world who would flock to worship the LORD.
