1 Peter 3:19 "By whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison."

PRINCIPLE OF GOD’S INTERACTION

What would happen if we were to apply our hearts and incline our ears to hearing the Word of God in a responsible manner? The following text should bring a great lift to the heart.

“Take heed what you hear.
With the same measure you use,
it will be measured to you;
and to you who hear, more will be given.”
MARK 4:24

1. Revelation of a divine principle at work

Jesus taught a very important truth here. When a hearer inclines his hear to listen carefully what is being taught, he sets in motion a divine principle.

2. “With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you”

This is an awesome principle to fathom and appreciate!

a) The measure we use
i) This would be a reference to how we hear God’s word.
ii) How do we apply our heart?
iii) How do we apply our mind?
iv) How do we regard God’s word?
b) The measure God uses
i) God will match our measure.
ii) The measure we use would be matched equally.
c) More will be given
i) We have added incentive here.
ii) God will more than match our efforts if we persevere.

A TIMELESS PRINCIPLE

This principle was taught in the Book of Proverbs from ancient times. Those who studied Wisdom Literature noted that only when a person sought for wisdom with all his heart would he find it (Cf. Proverbs 2:1-7). The challenge to us is obvious. We must incline ourselves to listen, to study God’s Word diligently, if we wish to benefit!
