"Remember the Law of Moses"

Text: Malachi 4:4

A CALL TO REMEMBER THE WORD OF GOD

One of the greatest gifts that God had given to Israel was His Word. Sadly, Israel neglected it and failed to keep it, to the nation’s great loss!

“Remember the Law of Moses, My servant,
Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel,
With the statutes and judgments.”
Malachi 4:4

1. “Remember the Law of Moses, My servant”

a) The Law was given in the context of the history of Israel.
i) The sojourn in Egypt was mentioned (Exodus).
ii) The journey through the Wilderness was also mentioned (Numbers).
b) The Law was given again just before Israel entered into Canaan (Deuteronomy).
i) Moses was the one who urged Israel to take heed and to remember.
ii) The prophet Malachi pleaded with remnant returnees to take heed.

2. “Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments”

a) The Law was also described as
i) Statutes (Judicial)
ii) Judgments (Both moral and judicial)
b) It was not just as a case study and limited in scope.
c) It was meant for all Israel.
i) The nation
ii) The leaders
iii) The common people
d) The Law was given by none other than the LORD God of Israel Himself.
e) God’s word was not to be taken lightly.
