"They transgressed the covenant"

Text: Hosea 6:7

THE COVENANT GIVEN TO ISRAEL

This is a reference to the Covenant God established with Israel through Moses. This is carefully noted in Exodus 24. This was carefully recorded and called “The Book of the Covenant” (Exodus 24:7). It was sealed and confirmed with these words:

“This is the blood of the covenant
which the LORD has made with you
according to all these words.”
Exodus 24:8

The terms of the Covenant were called The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17). These commandments were made known to the children of Israel who replied,

“All the words which the LORD has said we will do.”
Exodus 24:3

THE SOLEMN REALITY

The truth of the matter was revealed soberly. The children of Israel broke the covenant of the Lord again and again.

“But like men they transgressed the covenant;
There they dealt treacherously with Me.”
Hosea 6:7

c) “They did not believe His word” (Psalm 106:24b)
d) They rebelled against His Spirit (Psalm 106:33a).
e) “They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons” (Psalm 106:37)
