"To appear in the presence of God for us..."

Text: Hebrews 9:24

ENTERING INTO HEAVEN’S MOST HOLY PLACE

The Most Holy Place was most sacred and most difficult to access in the earthly tabernacle! How much more difficult it would be to enter into Heaven’s Most Holy Place! How we must appreciate what Christ has achieved through His sacrifice.

“For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands,
which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear
in the presence of God for us.”
Hebrews 9:24

1. The holy places made with hands

a) This is a reference to the earthly tabernacle.
b) Christ’s sacrifice was of greater significance in application than the earthly tabernacle.
c) Thus His ministry was not with reference to the “holy places” in the earthly tabernacle.

2. Which are copies of the true

a) This is a repeat statement (Hebrews 9:23).
b) This was a reminder that the earthly tabernacle was only a “copy”.
c) The idea behind the word “copy” simply means “representation”.
d) The copy cannot compare with the original.

3. Into heaven itself

a) The true tabernacle is in heaven itself.
b) The comparison is stark! The earth compared to heaven!

4. To appear in the presence of God for us

a) Heaven itself is the “tabernacle” where God resides.
b) Jesus, through His sacrifice has gained entrance into the Most Holy Place where He stands before the awesome presence of God.
c) The beneficiaries are those redeemed by the blood of Christ.
d) How wonderful it is to know that Christ entered into the Most Holy Place “for us”!
