Counted worthy of more glory than Moses

Text: Hebrews 3:3a

MAY WE SPEAK OF MAN HAVING GLORY AND HONOUR?

The answer may be found in the following text. It is valid to speak of man having glory and honour.

“For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honour.”
Psalm 8:5

God Himself crowned man with glory and honour!

THE GLORY AND HONOUR THAT MOSES WAS BLESSED WITH

The following texts describe the glory and honour of Moses.

1. Among the Egyptians

Moses’ ministry in Egypt, performing mighty signs and wonders, brought him much glory and honour.

“Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt,
in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.”
Exodus 11:3

2. Among the children of Israel

Moses was well honoured by the children of Israel too! He was acknowledged as God’s specially chosen leader. He had earned the highest respect.

“So it was, whenever Moses went out to the tabernacle,
that all the people rose, and each man stood at his tent door
and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle.
And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle,
that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door
of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses.”
Exodus 33:8-9

THE GLORY THAT JESUS POSSESSED

The author of Hebrews took a similar approach as he wrote about Jesus. This time round he compared Jesus with Moses. The following text reveals his conclusion.

“For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses,
inasmuch as He who built the house has more honour
than the house.”
Hebrews 3:3

1. Jesus is declared “worthy of more glory than Moses”.

2. Jesus is proclaimed as the Builder (Creator).

3. Thus intrinsically Jesus is greater than Moses, simply because of who He is!
