Day 50

"He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. "

Text: Hebrews 2:16

ANOTHER MENTION OF ANGELS

We have another interesting mention of angels. Let us ponder the following text.

“For indeed He does not give aid to angels,
but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.”
Hebrews 2:16

1. Angels

Once again, let us be reminded of what we have learned about angels.

a) Angels are not “flesh and blood”.
b) They are powerful spirit-beings.
c) They are not in fear of death as man is.

2. He does not give aid to angels

What does this mean? Let us consider the following thoughts:-

a) Jesus was not an angelic being (as some erroneously taught).
b) Jesus took on “flesh and blood” to fight and defeat the devil and break his power.

3. He does give aid to the seed of Abraham

a) This is a cryptic reference to Jesus.
b) The apostle Paul waxed eloquent on this subject.
i) Paul argued that the word “seed” was in the singular.
ii) Therefore this had particular reference to Jesus Christ.

THE POWER OF GOD AVAILABLE TO JESUS

The power of God was always available to man! It was also made available to Jesus when He partook of “flesh and blood”. That power aided Him immensely! What was the aid God gave to Jesus? Three may be highlighted (We have the same means!):-

1. The Spirit of God (Luke 4:1)

2. The Word of God (Luke 4:4, 8, 10 – “It is written”)

3. Prayer (Mark 1:35)
