"Make straight paths for your feet..."

Text: Hebrews 12:13a

RENEWAL

How wonderful it is to know that we can experience spiritual renewal! And with spiritual renewal of heart, mind and spirit there also comes the ability to persevere in our walk of faith!

“And make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame
may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.”
Hebrews 12:13

1. And make straight paths for your feet

a) A correct perspective would mean that there is now a deeper understanding.
b) Straight paths:-
i) This suggests that the believer may well have taken wrong and sinful paths.
ii) God corrected His erring child so that he might not continue in sin.
iii) With wisdom gained from a corrected perspective he is now able to order his life aright.
iv) Wisdom that comes from experience teaches him how to choose “straight paths”.

2. So that what is lame may not be dislocated

a) The imagery of being “lame” suggests that the believer has sustained injury (spiritually).
b) That which is hurting because of injury (“lame”) can become worse.
c) “Dislocation” would represent a state worse than just being “lame”.
d) A corrected perspective would teach the believer how he may avoid further damage or injury.

3.But rather be healed

a) Time must be given to heal the wounds.
b) Treatment must be given to enhance the healing process.
c) Balm from the Lord and His word would do wonders to heal spiritual injuries.
