"Moved with godly fear..."

Text: Hebrews 11:7

FACETS OF FAITH

Faith has many facets! Three facets may be highlighted:

1. Faith is involved in comprehending God.

2. Faith is also involved in developing a relationship with God.

3. Faith involves a desire to seek Him in knowledge.

FAITH MUST RESULT IN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

The following text illustrates the wisdom of making an appropriate response.

“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen,
moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his
household, by which he condemned the world and became heir
of the righteousness which is according to faith.”
Hebrews 11:7

1. Moved with godly fear

a) The mind must be stirred to action.
b) The heart must provide that sense of conviction.
c) A sense of godly fear adds tremendous impetus.

2. Prepared an ark for the saving of his household

a) A good heart of faith caused Noah to desire to see his household saved.
b) He worked hard at making an ark in obedience to God’s word of warning.

3. By which he condemned the world

a) The world rejected the word that Noah preached to them.
b) They rejected the faith that he professed and thus deserved the judgment of God.

4. Became heir of righteousness which is according to faith

This was Noah’s eternal reward. He would receive “imputed righteousness” that God promised to all who would believe in Him. What a challenge to possess the same kind of faith that Noah exemplified!
