"Divinely warned..."

Text: Hebrews 11:7b

GOD AS A REWARDER OF THOSE WHO DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM

The following text is a great example of how God rewards those who diligently seek Him, because of their genuine faith.

“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen…”
Hebrews 11:7

1. God’s reward for Noah

a) God gave him significant prophetic warning.
b) God revealed His plans to Noah about the Divine Judgment of the Flood.
c) God also told him how he could escape the disaster that would destroy the whole earth.

2. Being divinely warned

a) This describes the source of Noah’s knowledge of the great deluge.
b) God gave him a word of warning.

3. Challenges to Noah’s faith

a) Noah would first have to comprehend the divine word of warning.
b) The idea of a universal flood would have been most difficult to comprehend.
i) How could one comprehend the idea of a great deluge?
ii) How could Noah comprehend the idea of how to make an ark?
iii) How could Noah think about saving the animals?
c) Noah would also have to interpret and understand the judgment of God.
i) Could he still believe in a God who judges in this manner?
ii) Could he still maintain his faith and his walk with God?
iii) Could he continue to exercise full faith in the Lord?

Noah’s faith must have been deep and considerable indeed! Little wonder that the author of Hebrews listed him as a hero of faith.
