"But without faith it is impossible to please Him..."

Text: Hebrews 11:6

THE VITAL PLACE OF FAITH

The following text spells out clearly what God desires from man.

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him,
for he who comes to God must believe that He is,
and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:6

1. Without faith

a) We would not even be able to speak of relating to God.
b) We would certainly not be able to please Him.

2. What kind of faith is God looking for?

The answer lies in the following truths derived from the above text.

a) It is a faith that “believes” in God for who He is.
b) It is a faith that sees a person desiring to come to God.
c) It is a faith that enables a person to diligently seek God out.
d) It is a faith that believes God would reward those who seek Him.

3. This is the kind of faith that the following exhibited in their life:-

a) Faithful Abel sought to worship God because he believed in Him (Hebrews 11:4)
b) Faithful Enoch delighted in his consistent walk with God (Hebrews 11:5)

4. That which would not please God

a) Where there isn’t a genuine and basic faith in Him.
b) Where there is no desire in the heart to please God.
c) Where there is no diligence in seeking the Lord.
d) Where there is no faith that God would reward those who seek Him diligently.

Let us be deeply challenged to possess the kind of faith that would truly please the Lord. How our life would be so gloriously blessed then!
