"That we might know the things..."

Text: 1 Corinthians 2:12

DEEP SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE

How may we obtain deep spiritual knowledge from God? The following text is of great importance.

“For what man knows the things of a man except
the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one
knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world,
but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know
the things that have been freely given to us by God.”
1 Corinthians 2:11-12

1. “The things of a man”

a) No one knows what is deep inside of a man.
b) Except his own spirit.

2. “The things of God”

a) No one knows the things of God.
b) Except the Spirit of God.

3. “Now we have received”

a) Not the spirit of the world.
b) But the Spirit who is from God.
i) The Spirit is given when one is truly born again (John 3:3).
ii) He now resides within a true child of God as the Seal and Guarantee (Ephesians 1:13-14).

4. “That we might know”

a) The Spirit of God was given with a purpose.
i) This purpose is clear.
ii) It is well-stated here.
b) That we might know.
i) Spiritual knowledge is what God desires to give to all His children.
ii) The Spirit will reveal deep and precious spiritual knowledge of God.
c) The things that have been freely given to us by God.
i) These things have been given out of God’s rich grace.
ii) How we must desire to know these great spiritual truths.
iii) There should be a natural inclination to know the deep things of God.
