Day 4

OTHERS WHO WERE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT

Bezalel was named first so that the children of Israel might be able to have a proper regard to his place and his role in the making of the Tabernacle, with all the holy artefacts. There were others who were also blessed with the ability to do the Lord’s work.

“And He has put in his heart the ability to teach,
in him and Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.
He has filled them with skill to do all manner of work of the engraver
and the designer and the tapestry maker, in blue, purple,
and scarlet thread, and fine linen, and of the weaver
– those who do every work and those who design artistic work.”
Exodus 35:34-35

1. “And He”

a) This is a reference to the LORD God.
b) He has given the Spirit of the Lord to Bezalel.
c) He has also put in his heart the ability to teach.
i) Bezalel may be gifted.
ii) But he cannot do the Lord’s work single-handedly.
iii) He needs others to work alongside.
iv) He would need a right-hand man on whom he can depend fully.
v) Aholiab was that man.

2. “He has filled them with skill to do all manner of work”

a) The LORD God continues to be greatly involved.
b) The Spirit of God would be instrumental in all the works that God had assigned Bezalel and Aholiab.

3. Others who were filled with the Spirit of God

a) This is not technically or specifically mentioned.
b) But the tenor of the text suggests this strongly.

4. People who were greatly gifted because they too were blessed with the Spirit of God who enabled them

a) The engraver
b) The designer
c) The tapestry maker
d) The weaver and others too many to be enumerated
