Day 364

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen...But without faith it is impossible to please Him..." Hebrews 11:1, 6

Text: Exodus 40

SO MUCH ATTEMPTED AND ACHIEVED IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME

The Book of Exodus covers a very short period of Israel’s history. Yet so much was attempted and achieved. Israel who had been in bondage for more than four centuries suddenly found itself gloriously liberated!

For hundreds of years, the children of Israel awaited the fulfilling of God’s promise to Abraham. And in just about a year, Israel was marching steadily towards their new land of hope.

From the earliest times, the worship of God was at best “simple”. But now Israel had a grand and elaborate way to worship their God!

Indeed, much was attempted and much achieved in such a short period of time! How had this been possible? God found a man who dared to exercise courageous faith in life. Through that one man, God accomplished so much!

THE EXEMPLARY FAITH OF MOSES

The Scriptures paid high tribute to Moses for possessing an outstanding faith in God.

“By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to
be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing
rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to
enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach
of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt;
for he looked to the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt
not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing
Him who is invisible.”
HEBREWS 11:24-27

The Book of Exodus details the faith and life of Moses. It is only right that we take time to ponder the faith that he possessed, in the hope that we too may aspire to own the same spirit of faith. Five aspects suggest themselves.

1. Faith begins with the ability to see “Him who is invisible”.

2. Faith grants wisdom to make the right choices in life.

3. Faith dispels all fears.

4. Faith challenges one to reject a life of selfish pleasure.

5. Faith enables one to endure any and every suffering in life.

Faith of this kind results in great blessings outpoured from God in heaven!
