Text: Exodus 36 : 20-35, 37
FROM THE CURTAINS TO THE TABERNACLE WALLS
Bezalel’s next challenge was to tackle the matter of the building of the “walls” of the Tabernacle. These were to be made of acacia wood. This project was not as simple as it may have appeared. The following things were to be made:-
1. Size of Each Board
a) Length – 10 cubits
b) Width- 1.5 cubits
2. Number of Vertical boards (Exodus 36:20-30)
a) North and South sides- 40 upright boards
b) East and West sides- 16 upright boards
3. Number of Horizontal boards (Exodus 36:31-34)
a) These acacia boards were called “bars”
b) A total of 20 bars were made
c) These bars would strengthen the “walls” of the Tabernacle
The curtains that had been readied ahead of time could then be draped over the boards as they are raised up. (This is a possible scenario).
THE MAKING OF THE VEIL AND THE SCREEN DOOR
The Veil and the Screen door were the next items that were made. These items, though made of fine woven linen, must be distinguished from the curtains.
“And he made a veil of blue, purple and scarlet thread,
and fine woven linen; it was worked with an artistic design
of cherubim.”
He also made a screen for the tabernacle door, of blue, purple<
and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, made by a weaver…”

A SIMPLE WORD OF ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF BEZALEL’S WORK
It is interesting to note that the pronoun “he” was used very extensively to describe Bezalel’s work (Exodus 36:10-38). His handiwork was acknowledged by name on only a few occasions (Cf. Exodus 37:1; 38:22). Otherwise, the pronoun “he” was used to describe all the work he did. What a beautiful picture we have here. The focus is rightly the Lord and His tabernacle!
